The findings indicate ongoing consumer demand for key smart home technologies, with preferences leaning heavily towards smart light switches (84%), smart thermostats (77%), video doorbells (73%), smart door locks (65%), and security cameras (61%). These devices, often installed concurrently, underscore a growing consumer move towards integrated smart home ecosystems that enhance convenience, security, and energy efficiency. In terms of functionalities, the survey pinpoints the most coveted smart home features as identified by professionals: • App Control: Lauded by 83% for its ease of use and accessibility • Smart plugs increased by 76% • Remote Monitoring: Cherished by 67% for offering homeowners security and peace of mind from anywhere. • System Integration: Favored by 50% for the seamless experience it provides across devices. • Whole-home Automation: Seen by 48% as a key to unlocking an unparalleled convenience and lifestyle upgrade. However, the journey towards widespread smart home adoption isn't without its hurdles. The survey sheds light on the challenges, such as a lack of consumer education (62%), reliability concerns (59%), and the perceived complexity of smart home systems (53%), that installers face in bringing these technologies into mainstream use. The survey also maps out the most frequently installed brands, revealing preferences for: Lighting: Lutron (53%), Control4 (42%), and Philips Hue (30%) leading the pack.
Energy Management: Control4 (56%) and Google Nest (54%) at the forefront.
Security: Ring (53%) topping the chart, closely followed by Control4 and Google Nest.
