Synopsis:
The intensifying energy crisis and economic downturn have increased demand for home energy management. Smart home solutions including energy management have also been boosted due to the focus on home improvement due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Adoption for lower priced connected thermostats and smart plug adapters have especially accelerated.
ON Worlds recently completed survey with 1,500 online adults in North America found that 1 in 4 of those who are currently using or likely to use smart energy products are more interested in smart energy solutions due to the pandemic.
Of the respondents who are current smart home users, 78% have purchased a smart thermostat and 62% have purchased remote temperature sensors in the last two years to optimize the room-level climate control of their smart thermostats. In addition, three-quarters purchased an average of 2.6 smart plug adapters over the past two years.
Annual revenues for smart home energy devices (excluding white goods appliances) will approach $10 billion by 2028.
This research service is based on ongoing phone interviews and surveys with thousands of consumers and hundreds of retailers, home service providers and vendors as well as thousands of online product listings. It provides in-depth analysis and market sizing data on the rapidly growing smart home safety and security market.
